In 2012 I led a walk around Gisburn to look at vernacular architecture. An article on the subject was printed in the 2014 Journal. Pimlico House on Main St was not open to us on the day of the visit but the owners, Mr and Mrs Harding, had most graciously allowed me to inspect the interior before the visit. The published information on listed buildings stated that the house contained no features of interest, but this is not true as the pictures shown here illustrate very well.

Former farmhouse dated 1705 on smoothed-over doorhead.
House now has later additions on both sides. Rubble on a stone plinth with some through-stones.
Almost symmetrical double-depth plan. Mullions are ovolo-moulded.
Left-hand ground floor room has large, chamfered, segmental arch fireplace with 17 voussoirs that look as though they should be taller. Only two of these have joggled joints. Perhaps plaster is covering part of them.
Right-hand ground floor room has chamfered lintel on corbels, with later infilling.
First floor right-hand room has decorative plasterwork on chimney breast with grapevines, acorns and what looks like two owls.
Blocked wooden mullion window on rear wall.
